What happens if we need to shorten our rental hire?
You can ring us if you wish to return your vehicle before 4pm but no refund will be issued as a minimum one day hire is required, all finishing at 4pm. If you book for 2 or more days and use it for less without reasonable notice, these days are still chargeable and must be paid in full.
Does Hire2u have any moving blankets or trolleys etc to hire?
Yes, we have a large quantity of moving blankets for hire at 10 for $10 but if these are not returned or are damaged they are charged to the hirer at $20 each for replacement. We also have a trolley which is $10 for the duration of your hire but if not returned or damaged there is a $100 cost to the hirer.
What are the license requirements for Hire2u’s vehicle hire?
All drivers are required to be over the age of 20 and hold a full New Zealand drivers license for more than one year. Trucks with in the 2-3 tonne payload range can be driven on a class one license so long as the gross vehicle weight does not exceed 6000kg. Anything larger and outside these criteria would require a class two (heavy traffic) license.
Is there a bond when booking a truck?
Not a bond but we require a full payment of daily hire rate and insurance excess reduction fee when securing the booking or the full quoted price including estimate kilometres etc.
Is there an extra charge for additional drivers on the contract?
No there is no additional charge for extra drivers as we prefer you to have the option to share driving if you need, All drivers must be on the contact to be able to drive our trucks for legal and insurance purposes.
What is the cost of Collision Damage Reduction Insurance and is it recommended?
The cost of this is $35 per day and we do recommend it as it reduces the excess to $1500 instead of $5000.
Does the truck hire include diesel?
No, all trucks are full to the brim of diesel as they leave our Stratford depot and must be full at this level when returned. We physically check this as we do with Speedo and Hubo readings. There is a diesel tank on site that you may fill up with but prices are at our digression depending on costs from our suppliers.
What type of mechanical breakdown assistance is provided?
Hire2u NZ Limited provides and/or arranges this service if required but it is the customers responsibility for changing tyres etc.
Can we take our rental truck on the Interisland Ferry?
Most of our trucks are fitted with ferry tie downs and these ones can be taken on the inter island ferry. Please be sure to advise us of this when getting a quote.
What is Hire2u’s cancellation policy?
Our daily rate booking deposit is non refundable if given less that 7 days notice of cancellation but if kilometres have been previously charged upon booking these can be refunded. Please note if this is paid by WINZ then this will be returned to them not the customer. The booking deposit can be transferred to another booking within 6 months but this does not apply during peak times and is subject to vehicle availability.

What is the procedure for extending the rental period?
This is subject to availability and authorisation is required so please contact us on the cell phone number listed. As much notice as possible is requested to avoid any possible disappointment.

Does Hire 2 U have vehicle tracking systems fitted in their vehicles?
Yes, all of our trucks are fitted with GPS tracking technology which tracks and logs all details including kilometres travelled, speed driven and route taken during hire including any stops made.
Does the rental truck insurance cover the contents on the truck while moving?
No. Your own insurance is required for your contents. We highly recommend that you check your policy or arrange this cover.
